The land that is now South Park Commons holds a special place in San Diego's past. This historical site was the former home of Hamilton's Tavern, which famously held one of the city's earliest liquor licenses, dating back to the early 1900’s.
Our journey to what you see today has been one of resilience and transformation. In November 2020, a devastating fire destroyed much of the project, leading to a multi-year and over $4 million dollar renovation. This extensive rebuilding effort has restored the site and ushered in a new era for this cherished corner of the neighborhood.
South Park Commons is now home to a stellar lineup of local culinary and beverage favorites, making it a premier restaurants and bars in South Park destination.
Tucked away within the project, the Beech St. Cottages offer an intimate residential experience. These consist of nine charming one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments in South Park, many of which feature private outdoor spaces, access to a community courtyard and barbeque area, and onsite laundry.
